1. The yin and yang of Bazi are the essence, while the Five Elements and Ten Gods are the expressions. Yang represents the void, emptiness, pure energy, and spirit, which are the positive energies guiding people towards success. Yin represents the solid, fullness, form, and material, which are the negative energies leading people towards degradation and failure.
2. The Five Elements mainly represent natural attributes, while the Ten Gods mainly represent social attributes. Natural attributes refer to the inherent appearance and laws of people and things, and are objective. For example, a person’s innate talents, temperament, gender, height, weight, appearance, beauty, ugliness, goodness, evil, justice, and fortune or misfortune. Social attributes refer to the attributes assigned to things by society, which are superficial and subjective. For example, social division of labor, status hierarchy, positions, titles, identities, and wealth or poverty. Social attributes and natural attributes are independent of each other, and wealth or poverty has nothing to do with longevity or fortune or misfortune.
3. The combination of the Wounding Officer and the Seal is useful for cultural and technical jobs. Those with Metal and Water Wounding Officers are mostly inclined towards technical work, while those with Wood and Fire Wounding Officers are mostly inclined towards cultural work. A female destiny with clear Metal and pure Water that is useful is definitely a beautiful woman with fair skin. If it is an Official and Seal, then she is not only beautiful in appearance but also elegant in temperament. If the Ten Gods corresponding to Metal and Water are Peers or Wounding Officers, it can only be said that she is beautiful in appearance, but lacks temperament.
4. There are different views on the Five Elements and the Ten Gods. The way the Five Elements work is through generation, control, transformation, and neutralization, as well as punishment, conflict, combination, and harm, with the harmony between them determining auspiciousness or inauspiciousness. The Ten Gods focus on the combination and configuration, with the auspicious and inauspicious configuration determining the success or failure of life, and the presence or absence of a pattern determining wealth or poverty.
5. The destiny pattern is seen in the combination, while the annual and monthly fortunes determine the timing. Although the Official Star is noble, if it cannot see the Seal, its nobility cannot be manifested. Even if the Wounding Officer is strong, if it cannot see the Official Star, it will not find a target for illegal and disorderly conduct, and thus will not have any official disasters. The Official Star is noble because of its role in protecting wealth, highlighting the Seal, restraining the body, and guiding towards goodness, which constitutes its nobility. The Seal is auspicious because of its combination of subduing the Seven Killers to protect the body, controlling the Wounding Officer for use, and nurturing the body for health. Wood needs to encounter Fire, and Metal needs to encounter Water in order to realize its own life value. Through the combination and configuration of Water and Fire in the Bazi, one can see a person’s achievements in the fields of spiritual culture and economic politics. Fire represents the sky and is a way to communicate with the divine, but it must be combined with Wood to reach the state of Wood-Fire brightness. Without Wood, even if it forms a pattern, it cannot reach the high level of spirit and culture. Water represents the earth and is a symbol of human power, but it must be combined with Metal and form a pattern to reach the state of clear Metal and pure Water, possessing strong power. In real life, people who are dominated by Wood or Metal will willingly help those dominated by Fire or Water, even sacrificing themselves like a moth to a flame. In a Bazi where Fire is strong or has a repository, and the combination is good, but there is no Wood, achievements can only be made during the major fortune period when Wood appears, regardless of whether Wood is a useful god or a taboo god. Those who are likely to achieve in the field of spiritual culture are mostly Bazi dominated by Fire and made useful, but it is not necessary for the daily pillar to be Fire. Teachers correspond to the Seal and Food-Injury stars. The Five Elements are the root, and the Ten Gods are the signs. Teachers are the disseminators of orthodox culture and the shapers of spirit, corresponding to the Wood and Fire elements. Jia Wood represents orthodox academia, with the image of textbooks. Yi Wood represents non-mainstream and esoteric academia. If combined with Ren or Gui Water, it takes on the image of erotic books or esotericism. Bing Fire is the Yang Fire, representing brightness and selfless dedication. Ding Fire is the Yin Fire, representing the fire of the human world, with a cultural aspect that carries fame and fortune. The combination of Ding and Ren, with Ding pursuing Ren, is due to Ren representing the power of the human world. Yin corresponds to Jia, Mao corresponds to Yi, Si corresponds to Bing, and Wu is the place of the four orthodox elements and also represents orthodox culture. Xu is the repository of Fire, representing schools, temples, power stations, etc. The Five Elements that best represent school teachers are Jia, Bing, Yin, and Xu. If a Bazi only has Wood (Jia or Yin) or only has Fire (Bing or Xu), then only during the major fortune period when the other element appears and forms the image of Wood-Fire brightness can one become a teacher in peace.
6. If the Wounding Officer is strong and uncontrolled, it indicates there are no restraints. When the annual or monthly fortune encounters an Official Star, the inauspicious combination of Wounding Officer meeting Official Star is established, and there will definitely be some setbacks. If the annual or monthly fortune brings a Seal with root energy, then the auspicious combination of Wounding Officer with Seal is established, and corresponding auspicious events will occur.
7. The original nature is the innate attribute, which is the basis for the later use. The innate is the body, and the later is the use. For example, Wood and Fire are innately Yang, representing spirit, culture, and life; Metal and Water are innately Yin, representing politics, material, and destruction.
8. The nature of the Wounding Officer and the Seven Killers. The Wounding Officer’s nature is to fight when it sees an Official Star, but if the original pattern has a Seal or Wealth, the Wounding Officer is controlled and will no longer克制 when it sees an Official Star. The Seven Killers’ nature is combative, murderous, and dominating. If it is strong and controlled, it is good at managing evil forces, such as soldiers, law enforcement officers in public security, procuratorate, and court departments, etc. If the Seven Killers are not controlled and transformed, its combative, murderous, and destructive nature will be unleashed, such as butchers, gangsters, diseases, injuries, harsh environments. If the body is strong and can resist, there is no problem; if the body is weak and controlled, then it will suffer.
9. Wood’s nature is to pursue Fire, which is its goal, achievement, and destination. If Wood does not have Fire, even if it forms a pattern and is very wealthy and noble, it still feels uneasy inside and lacks a sense of belonging. If it combines with Water in later life, it will be even more confused and directionless. If it is Yi Wood and encounters Geng Metal, it will abandon Water and run to Geng, because Yi Wood is a beauty and Geng Metal is a hero. Although Yi Wood does not see Fire to achieve itself, it can make a compromise and follow a hero. A beauty with a hero, the heart will eventually be comforted.
10. The action of the Five Elements is divided into Yin and Yang. Generation, control, transformation, and neutralization are Yang, which is the way of the heavenly stems; punishment, conflict, harm, and breaking are Yin, which is the way of the earthly branches; combination is neutral, being both the way of the heavenly stems and the earthly branches. Punishment, conflict, harm, and breaking are used to determine the success or failure of the combination of the earthly branches. For the combination of the heavenly stems to take shape, there must be a response in the earthly branches, that is, having a root. Whether the root is reliable depends on the result of the earthly branches’ punishment, conflict, harm, and breaking.
11. The relationship between combination and Yin and Yang. The Five Elements, Ten Gods, and palaces are the carriers of Yin and Yang, and they respectively govern the natural and social attributes of people and things; Yin and Yang are the soul of the combination; the combination is the basis for judging auspiciousness, inauspiciousness, disasters, and fortunes; the harmony of Yin and Yang is the criterion for judging auspiciousness, inauspiciousness, disasters, and fortunes; the strength and weakness are the ability states of the Five Elements and Ten Gods; generation, control, transformation, punishment, conflict, combination, and harm are the ways of action of the Five Elements and Ten Gods; the useful gods and taboo gods are the value orientations of the Five Elements and Ten Gods.
12. Bazi expresses life information through the ways of action and combination configuration of the Five Elements, Ten Gods, and palaces. The Five Elements are in motion and change, like the meridians and qi and blood of a person; the Ten Gods are attached to the Five Elements, like the skin, flesh, and clothing; the palaces are fixed, like the skeleton of a person; Yin and Yang are the soul of a person. The heavenly stems and earthly branches are the extensions of the Five Elements; generation, control, transformation, punishment, conflict, combination, and harm are the ways of action of the Five Elements; the combination of the stems and branches is the configuration of the Five Elements and Ten Gods.
